6 conscious Grime emcees and a singer from Skelmersdale, Liverpool have come together to release a tune called Campaign Time featuring Obese and East London’s menace to the Grime scene himself; Trim. It seems as though the lyrical beef instigator has turned his image around and is collaborating with SAMM (Support After Murder and Manslaughter). To dwell on Trims pass is not what we are about here at AWKWARD STAR instead we want to congratulate him on doing something positive……so back to the tune…….. The group of young artists are Called Shooting Star Poets and to be totally honest I can’t say I am feeling the tune entirely, I love the whole idea of young people coming together to and releasing a tune in memory of the young people who have lost their lives to the streets and those who are affected by the aftermath but with Mothers Against Guns and Southside Soldiers Heads Up tune out a few years previous I will continually compare the two. Both songs have a powerful message but I felt I had to listen just that little bit harder to hear it in Campaign Time.
